West Coast Competitiveness Summit

Industry and government leaders addressed the nation’s competitiveness in the recent West Coast Competitiveness Summit held on August 11 at the San Diego Air & Space Museum.  Keynote addresses were provided by Dr. Ronald Sugar, Chairman and CEO of Northrop Grumman Corp.and Dr. Michael Griffin, NASA Administrator. George Scalise, President of the Semiconductor Industry Association, then moderated a panel which included Craig Barrett, Chairman of the Intel Corp. Board of Directors, Dr. Sally Ride, Dr. Mary Anne Fox, Chancellor of the University of California San Diego and Undersecretary Robert Cresanti of the U.S. Department of Commerce.  The purpose of the Summit was to discuss continued U.S. economic leadership through strengthening Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education and workforce development.
