International Opportunities

The California Space Authority seeks to enhance the global competitiveness of California's space enterprise community and will support and advocate government actions consistent with these goals. Through its growing array of international relationships, CSA strives to open new markets and to facilitate the creation of international opportunities by connecting California space enterprise stakeholders with potential space enterprise partners abroad.

Events/Programs

  • Mexico's Aerospace Industry Conference, October 24, 2009, 7 am to 6 pm at the Hilton Seattle Airport, Seattle, WA
    Conference participants will objectively analyze the present and future business conditions of the aerospace industry in Mexico; obtain detailed and privileged information on the current state and development potential of the industry; and hear from industry experts and OEM’s about the opportunities to participate in Mexico’s aerospace industry value chain. An optional Boeing tour is offered from 8 am to 12 noon on October 30. For further information, contact 1-877-864-8528.
  • 2009 L.A. Export Series (PDF)
    Registrations are still ongoing for the L.A. Export Series, of which the first of seven seminars will begin September 8. Learn from experts how to assess your own export potential, identify the markets that need your products, make ongoing export sales, and manage international trade risks. A Center for International Trade Development (CITD) specialist will be present at each seminar for free on-site counseling.
  • Aero Engine EXPO, October 21-22, 2009, Olympia II Exhibition Center, London, UK.
    The Aero-Engine EXPO is the only independent, dedicated international Aero Engine life-cycle event in the world. With exhibition hall, informal networking receptions and formal B-2-B networking meetings, the Aero Engine EXPO is THE pre-eminent meeting place for Aero Engine professionals. The Aero Engine EXPO is the optimum event at which to forge new relationships with a key customer base.   • State of California Trade Mission to Chile (PDF) — The pace of globalization is making it necessary for businesses of all sizes and types to include a strong international component in their business plans. The State of California has scheduled a Trade Mission to Chile during September 26-30, 2009. Members of the space enterprise community are invited to join the delegation.   • Symposium Agenda and Speakers Now on Website
    We have 34 confirmed speakers over 2 days of the conference. Please check out the sessions and speakers at ISPCS-2009 at www.ispcs.com. The International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight is the industry’s leading gathering for the entrepreneurs and innovators coming together to deliver on the promise of spaceflight for mankind. Held October 21 and 22 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA, ISPCS is organized by the New Mexico Space Grant Consortium, a member of the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program, administered by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).   • APSCC 2009 Satellite Conference & Exhibition (PDF) September 29-October 1, 2009, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With the theme “Connectivity, Convergence, Communication,” APSCC 2009 will focus on the key challenges the industry is facing today through an outstanding selection of roundtables, panel discussions and sessions. Marked as APSCC’s 12th Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications, Broadcasting and Space Conference and Exhibition, APSCC 2009 will also be packed with networking opportunities with key players in the satellite industry.

Policymaker Forum

On June 15, 2006, the California Space Authority (CSA) and the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC), a United Kingdom-based organization, entered into a cooperative agreement for the purposes of improving and fostering space enterprise commerce between their members. In October 2004, CSA and ASPCC entered into a cooperative agreement designed to build a consultative, collaborative and operational alliance focused on promoting the satellite industry.

Agreement On Space Enterprise Networking Between the French Aerospace Valley Association and the California Space Authority (PDF)

The Space Show: Building upon its recent international alliance with the French Aerospace Valley Association (FAV), members of the California Space Authority (CSA) team were recently interviewed on The Space Show radio broadcast. During the program, Margaret Lau and Eric Daniels discuss the circumstances and facts that led up to the Agreement and the signing ceremony at the Paris Air Show. The Agreement focuses on three key areas of action: education and workforce talent preparedness, economic development and entrepreneurial innovation and international trade openness. Listeners will learn more details about the Agreement such as educational exchange programs, business to business networking opportunities via The Connectory and concerns about free market access to Galileo.
