Dan Futoran is the Marketing and Technical Support Manager for California Space Authority, Inc. He was instrumental in the design and development of CSA's website, which he currently maintains.
A native Californian, born in Los Angeles, raised in Long Beach, and educated at California State University at Northridge in the San Fernando Valley, Dan currently resides in the California Central Coast.
Dan began his career in 1984 with Digital Sound Corp. (now part of Unisys) in Carpinteria, California. In 1988, on a grayscale Macintosh SE using an early version of Adobe Illustrator, he began rendering detailed illustrations of telephony hardware, and writing and editing the installation manuals that accompanied them. In-depth instructions for the operation of a robust voice mail software were also included in the sale of the equipment, and Dan created a collection of elaborate flow charts based on telephone keypad sequences.
Then in 1992 Dan was employed at PS Medical (now Medtronic Neurosurgery) in Goleta, California, where his skillset encompassed the burgeoning new fields of digital image processing, 2-D and 3-D animation, desktop video, desktop publication, desktop presentations, web design, and digital photography. By the time the Fortune 500 company Medtronic Corporation had purchased PS Medical in 1998, Dan had developed the foundation for all of PS Medical's marketing media, then quickly and methodically adopted the parent company's brand design to encompass their existing and planned medical products. Adding to his technical editing and writing experience, Dan was solely charged with producing Medtronic Neurosurgery's bi-annual product catalog, in which he also contributed a great number of product illustrations and photographs.
In May of 2000 Dan embarked on his freelance career as a Graphic Designer, in which he contracted projects involving medical illustration, on-line and printed catalog production, website design and development, tradeshow posters, presentations, and a large variety of other visual media. |
