Thirty-two CSA members participated in California Space Week 2004 in Washington, D.C. The members visited the entire California Congressional delegation - 53 offices in the House of Representatives and 2 offices in the Senate -- on March 16 and March 17. Member teams were led by Andrea Seastrand, Executive Director; Janice Dunn, Director of Federal Government Relations; Eric Daniels, Director of State Government Relations; and Carl Williams, Senior Director of State Government Policy.
CSA members educated the Congressional delegation on seven topics: (1) the Moon to Mars Initiative, (2) export controls, (3) support for DoD space programs, (4) space applications to homeland security issues, (5) the California space enterprise strategic plan, (6) reusable launch vehicles, and (7) BRAC. Point papers utilized on these issues are available to both members and the public on this website. The CSA members attended a Capitol Hill reception, which included Reps. Dana Rohrabacher and Zoe Lofgren as well as dozens of Congressional staffers, on March 17.
On March 18, CSA members attended a series of presentations made by representatives from the White House, NASA, the Department of Homeland Security, the State Department, the Air Force, and the FAA. This meeting was hosted by Governor Schwarzenegger's Washington, D.C. office.
