Opportunity for a School to Build a Payload

Lunar Rocket and Rover Company is looking for schools to build two identical payloads for two separate flights on Shadow IB rocket systems. Both flights would be at no charge to the school and would take place around the March 2005 time frame. The payload details will be passed on once a school volunteers, but is essentially a cylinder 1.8-inches in diameter and about 20-inches in length, weighing no more than 5 pounds. The application is a microwave application and Stanford University has already done some preliminary design and testing, and would be willing to mentor a school in the building of the payload. The participating school(s) would have to pay for the payload construction. There would be no charge for the Shadow IB Rocket System or any range costs. The expected altitude reached would be a maximum of 240,000 feet.
