The Planetary Society's Huygens Art Contest:
"Imagining Titan: Artists Peer Beneath the Veil"

The Grand Prize is a trip to Darmstadt, Germany to be on site at ESA's Space Operations Centre for the descent of the Huygens probe! Entry deadline is November 28, 2004. Two age categories, one for 10-17 (Youth), and one for 18 and older (Adult).

Two Companies Welcomed into CSA Executive Council Membership

A news media briefing to discuss the upcoming final X-43A hypersonic research flight is planned for Friday, Nov. 15, 2004, at 10 a.m. PST at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards, Calif. The briefing will be carried live on NASA Television.

CSA Member Ballots Due Nov 30

Ballots for the CSA Board of Directors election must be in CSA's hands by CoB November 30, 2004. Ballots were mailed from CSA to CSA members on November 8th.

Governor Schwarzenegger Establishes Council on Base Support and Retention; Seastrand Included

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed The Honorable Andrea Seastrand, Executive Director of the California Space Authority, to the Governor's Council on Base Support and Retention. The Council consists of representatives from industries closely tied to the continued support of national defense installations in our economy and retired military leaders from throughout California. The Council will work closely with the Governor's Office of Military and Aerospace Support in developing and implementing the state's BRAC preparedness plan.

Downey Center Designated by Congress as "Columbia Memorial Space Science Learning Center"

On October 30, 2004 the President of the United States signed into law a joint resolution of Congress designating the space science learning center in Downey, California as the Columbia Memorial Space Science Learning Center.
