SpaceX Awarded $100M Contract From Air Force for Falcon I
Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) has been awarded a $100 million IDIQ contract by the U.S. Air Force/Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC Detachment 12) for Responsive Small Spacelift (RSS) launch services.

Caltech Enterprise Forum: Space Venturing

A group of about 100 gathered to share in their enthusiasm of space enterprise. A panel moderated by Alex Barnette of the Chabot Space and Science Center discussed the recent successes and future of space venturing. The panelists, Jeff Johnson, head of space programs for Paul Allen‚s VULCAN; Gwynne Shotwell, Co-founder and VP of Business Development of Space Exploration Technologies; Art Dula, space law specialist; John Spencer, Founder and President of the Space Tourism Society; and John Stone of the investment bank Near Earth each gave presentations, highlighting their recent successes, current efforts, obstacles overcome, and future plans.
The presentations were followed by a question and answer session. The questions ranged from serious to whimsical and were focused on the many aspects of space tourism, government regulation and emerging areas of space venturing.
Employment Training Panel (ETP)
Despite reduced funding, the ETP increased its role as an economic development tool in California.
