NASA Authorization Bill Passes the House
Under the leadership of California Rep. Ken Calvert, Chairman of the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee, the House of Representatives today passed the NASA Authorization Bill (HR 3070) by a vote of 383 to 15. Passage of the bill is significant because (1) it authorizes full funding for NASA, (2) it supports NASA's space exploration activities, (3) it increases funding for aeronautics, and (4) it is the first such bill to pass the House in five years. Prior to passage of the bill, CSA helped to defeat an amendment that would have significantly hindered NASA by communicating its opposition to the amendment with all 53 House members of the California Congressional delegation. The House and Senate will confer on the differences between their versions of the NASA Authorization bill before the bill is sent to the President for his approval.

Drinking Water Monitoring Project Begins
On July 5, 2005, Frontier Technology Inc, Bridge Business and Engineering Services and CSA began work on a drinking water monitoring contract that will demonstrate the use of autonomous remote sensors that will be placed at strategic locations in cooperating water districts. These devices are intended to provide early warning to the water districts that dangerous agents may have been introduced to the drinking water system - by accident or intent. We urge all companies engaged in the development of water monitoring technologies to contact Curt Stahl at FTI (805-708-5555).
