CSA "Transforming Space" Conference, Dec 1-2
Maj. Gen. Curtis M. Bedke, Commander of the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base (EAFB) has joined the list of outstanding confirmed speakers for the Transforming Space Conference. He will discuss EAFB's recent contributions to the successful landing of the Discovery space shuttle orbiter as well as unique infrastructure at the base, including the nation's premier rocket engine test stands.

CSA to Lead California CEV "A Team" (PDF, 44 kb)
Governor Schwarzenegger has created an "A Team" devoted to attraction of the Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) program to the State of California. The state government effort is led by Secretary Sunne McPeak, Business, Transportation and Housing Agency, and Secretary Victoria Bradshaw, Labor and Workforce Development Agency. CSA has been selected to serve as the lead partner and has already organized separate meetings with the two CEV industry teams led by Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin.

Annual CSIP Project Nominations to Begin Soon
The annual project nominations for the California Space Infrastructure Program (CSIP) will begin soon for FY07. Deadline could be as early as October 28.

JPL Annual Invention Challenge: 2005
Teams from southern California middle schools and high schools are invited to join NASA JPL employees and families in JPL's annual Invention Challenge. This year's challenge is to build a device that will strike a match in exactly 20 seconds using at least three different categories of energy sequentially.

Lockheed Martin Delivers Key Hardware for Missile Warning System
Lockheed Martin has achieved another major step in the development of the nation's next-generation missile warning system with the successful delivery of the spacecraft core structure with an integrated propulsion subsystem for the first Space-Based Infrared System High (SBIRS High) geosynchronous orbit (GEO) satellite.

"Festival of Flight 2005": October 22-23
Presented by Northrop Grumman. A two-day celebration fusing the performing arts and science around the inspiring theme of flight. Free indoor and outdoor festival held at the California Science Center, 700 State Dr., Los Angeles.

The Planetary Society's 25th Anniversary Gala Awards Dinner - Nov 12
The Planetary Society will mark the "Next Age of Exploration" with an evening of space explorers and entrepreneurs, celebrities, great food and stargazing, all at the world famous Santa Anita Park in Southern California. Ray Bradbury and James Cameron will be honored.

AIAA "Space 2005": Aug. 30 - Sept. 1
Long Beach Convention Center. This year's Space 2005 Conference theme will establish the context of how important space has become while looking forward to a vision of what space can and will provide in the future.
