California Space Enterprise Strategic Planning Meetings Set for May/June 2006 (PDF)
The Collaboratives will have online meetings in May to work key drivers and critical issues. All the Collaboratives will meet concurrently on June 1st (afternoon) at the Renaissance Montura Hotel LAX, and SEAC will meet at the same location the morning of June 2nd, both focusing on strategies and recommendations.

2007-2010 California Space Enterprise Strategic Plan Sponsorships Now Being Accepted
Development of this statewide collaborative Plan is underway and sponsorships are now available at two levels: $5,000 and $2,500. Contact Elizabeth.Burkhead@CaliforniaSpaceAuthority.org for details. The Plan will be released at the CSA "Transforming Space" conference November 29th - December 1st.

California Space Center Awarded $150,000 Grant
The California Cultural and Historic Endowment (CCHE) has awarded a planning grant in the amount of $150,000 to the California Space Education and Workforce Institute (CSEWI) for the California Space Center, which is to be built in Santa Barbara County on 66 acres outside the front gate of Vandenberg Air Force Base. Matching funds are now needed in order to obtain necessary environmental services and architectural plans. You can help by joining the center's Launch Team (organizations and individuals) at a level of $1,000.

XCOR to Aid in Moon Mission
CSA-member XCOR Aerospace will help develop a rocket engine for NASA's next manned spacecraft under a multimillion-dollar contract recently announced.

Shuttle Atlantis May Return to Palmdale
Assemblywoman Sharon Runner (Lancaster Republican) has authored a joint resolution requesting that Palmdale be the permanent home of the space shuttle orbiter once NASA retires it. If passed, the state Legislature will transmit an official request to the president and members of Congress. Full story in the Antelope Valley Press.

Thought Leader Forum Huge Success
The inaugural space business event was a huge success with people attending from all facets of the industry--from the prime contractors to the space entrepreneurs and those interested in fostering new business models for the space industry. Keynote Peter Diamandis fascinated the audience with his futuristic vision of rocket races much like Nascar but in three dimensions and opportunities for everyone to experience zero gravity.
