2007-2010 California Space Enterprise Strategic Plan Sponsorships Now Being Accepted
Development of this statewide collaborative Plan is underway and sponsorships are now available at two levels: $5,000 and $2,500. Contact Elizabeth.Burkhead@CaliforniaSpaceAuthority.org for details. The Plan will be released at the CSA "Transforming Space" conference November 29th - December 1st.

CSA Applauds NASA for Successful Launch; California Readies Itself for NASA's Next Chapter
The California Space Authority (CSA) expresses its congratulations to NASA on the successful launch from Kennedy Space Center of the Space Shuttle Discovery and its seven-member crew.

State and Local VIP Officials Visit Propulsion Conference
As we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the world's first successful liquid-fuel rocket launch, the California Space Authority took advantage of the 42nd AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference held in Sacramento over July 9-12. Working with Aerojet, the corporate sponsor of the conference, CSA invited state and federal elected officials to join us in a walk through visit of the conference's exhibit hall.

CSA Sponsors a Zero-G Experience for California Educators
The California Space Authority will serve as the regional sponsor to Zero Gravity Corporation's (ZERO-G) "Northrop Grumman Weightless Flights of Discovery program." This educational program will offer teachers a rare professional development opportunity that incorporates experiments and demonstrations in complete weightlessness.

CSEWI Board Openings
The California Space Education and Workforce Institute (CSEWI), a 501(c)(3) arm of CSA, has openings on its Board of Directors. If you would be interested in voluntarily serving a 2-year term, please reply to Jamie Foster with a statement of interest and a bio or resume.

CA and UK Space Enterprise Organizations Enter Into International Agreement
The California Space Authority (CSA) and the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC), a United Kingdom-based organization, entered into a cooperative agreement recently for the purposes of improving and fostering space enterprise commerce between their members.

At NASA Ames July 27-30: Virtual Reality Field Trip to the Moon, Mars, and Beyond
The "Vision for Space Exploration Experience" is coming to NASA Ames Research Center July 27-30, 2006. It will be located behind the white tent of the NASA Exploration Center (Bld. 943-A), and open to the public between the hours of 10 am to 4 pm. Housed on a 53-foot-long trailer, the traveling exhibit will inspire space enthusiasts as they embark on a simulated journey to the farthest reaches of the solar system. From interactive holographic control panels to 3D imagery, visitors will discover what it might be like to live and work on the surfaces of the moon and Mars and to travel to Saturn's moon, Titan.

WIRED Grant Project Activities
On June 28th, 2006, a groundbreaking meeting of representatives of the University of California Office of the President, the California State University Office of the Chancellor, the Office of the Chancellor of the Community Colleges collectively participated in a meeting with K through 12 teachers and representatives of industry to discuss the issues of recruitment of teachers and students into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. Next steps: Leadership of the WIRED project team will facilitate development of a shared action plan. Presentations from June 28 are available.
