California Space Week Wasington DC, March 20-22 (PDF)
The California Space Authority (CSA) will host the 9th annual California Space Week in Washington, D.C., during the week of March 19, 2007. The week will include meetings in all 55 Congressional offices of the California delegation as well as with key Congressional committees. Space Week participants will also have the opportunity to meet with executive branch officials representing the White House's Office of Science and Technology, the U.S. Air Force, NASA, the Department of State, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Transportation. Key issues to be addressed this year include: (1) support for inspiration of students to study science, math and engineering, (3) full funding for NASA, (4) reform of the export control system, (5) adequate resources to ensure space access and mission success for national security programs, and (6) space technology applications for homeland security challenges. Quintron Receives Frost & Sullivan Product Innovation of the Year Award
CSA-member Quintron, the recognized leader in advanced interoperable voice systems and physical access control/intrusion detection systems, is pleased to announce that it has been selected to receive the 2007 Frost & Sullivan North American C4ISR Product Innovation of the Year Award.

Successfull Engine Test Fire at XCOR
XCOR Aerospace announced the successful test fire of a 7,500 pound thrust powered by liquid methane and liquid oxygen. This test is part of a $3.3 million contract with ATK. Together with ATK, XCOR developed the initial workhorse version of a 7,500 lbf LOX/methane engine for NASAs Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV). ATK will use the workhorse engine as a basis for development of the final flight-weight hardware. These engines are being designed to return the CEV from Lunar orbit to the Earth, and to perform in-space maneuvering.
