CSA Welcomes its
First Student Member! |
 |
I am excited to have this opportunity to join the California Space Authority, and I look forward to becoming an active participant in promoting the future of space business and technology in the state of California, and am honored to be the first student member of the CSA. After my undergraduate degree work in physics at San Francisco State University in 2001, I am now pursuing a master's degree in Aero/Astro Engineering at Stanford University, where I was among the five students who designed, built, tested, and now monitor QuakeSat, launched June 30, 2003. In addition to my studies, I also work part time at Lockheed Martin, and help coordinate the participation of Lockheed Martin in a Stanford spacecraft design program. The technologies that students are developing at universities are pushing the envelope of small satellite design and innovation in Calfiornia, which is becoming a paradigm that is already being adopted in other parts of the country. I would like to thank CSA for broadening the scope of organization membership, including the consideration for the cost of membership to students, and allowing them to have a voice, and a platform on which to participate in shaping the future of space. |
