California Space Enterprise Strategic Plan Implementation

Statewide Collaboratives Up and Running!

A major activity of the California Space Authority (CSA) in 2004 was the completion of the California Space Enterprise Strategic Plan, a collaborative effort of over 300 space stakeholders statewide representing 141 organizations. Cornerstone of the Plan was the development of five strategic initiatives, with over 100 objectives (recommendations) distributed among them (see California Space Enterprise Strategic Plan link on CSA homepage at www.californiaspaceauthority.org). The implementation strategy outlined in the Plan included the establishment of five statewide collaboratives, one for each of the strategic initiatives. Each of these collaboratives was to be a group of CSA members and stakeholder liaisons with special interest or expertise in the area addressed by the initiative. With CSA facilitating, each of these collaboratives would take responsibility for addressing the objectives within its assigned strategic initiative, periodically reporting progress and garnering feedback from CSA’s Space Enterprise Advisory Council (SEAC) and the CSA Board of Directors.

“As Space Enterprise Advisory Council Chairman, I am pleased to announce that CSA has recruited a wealth of statewide space stakeholder talent to chair and populate the collaboratives,” stated John Parsons, Senior Vice President, Engineering and Technology Group, The Aerospace Corporation. The collaboratives are up and running, with significant progress having already been made on several fronts. The SEAC congratulates all collaborative chairpersons for their commitment and thanks them for contributing their energy and expertise to the implementation of the California Space Enterprise Strategic Plan. Please remember, we welcome new participants in the implementation collaboratives at any time!”
