Buzz Aldrin and Governor Schwarzenegger Bring Boost to Event

On Wednesday, May 2, the California Space Authority (CSA) held its tenth annual California Space Day Sacramento.  Together over 46 individuals representing a very diverse space enterprise community convened at the State Capitol for a day of legislative visits.  Participants were divided into nine teams, each representing a specific area of expertise -- Workforce and Education, NASA and California's Business Climate -- and met with over 70 legislative offices.

That afternoon participants assembled for a special luncheon with guest speakers from the Governor's Administration.  Speakers included:  Cabinet Secretary Dan Dunmoyer, Governor's Advisor for Jobs and Economics David Crane, Education Secretary Dr. David Long, and Employment Training Panel Executive Director Michael Saragosa.

That evening CSA hosted a Legislative Reception in the Governor's Counsel Room at the State Capitol. Over 100 space enterprise stakeholders were delighted to have Dr. Buzz Aldrin as CSA's special guest. Legislators who attended were Sentaor Jack Scott, Assemblyman Jon Benoit, Assemblyman Anthony Adams, Assemblyman Paul Krekorian, and Assemblyman Bill Maze.  Numerous key legislative staff members also attended. Later that evening Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger dropped in to say "hello" and greet Buzz Aldrin (photo with caption).
